Season 2018/19
Cristian Sandrin (Piano) Born in Bucharest to a family of musicians, Cristian has studied in Romania and at the Royal Academy of Music, where he graduated with first class honours. He has gained numerous awards and scholarships throughout Europe. Cristian is a very active musician and is much in demand as a solo pianist, a chamber musician and as the director of small ensembles from the keyboard. His programme includes what he calls ‘some of my most beloved pieces’. After a short piece by Kurtag, he will play Haydn’s F minor Variations, Beethoven’s Tempest Sonata, 2 pieces from Debussy’s Images, Chopin‘s Barcarolle and Schumann’s Kreisleriana.. Not often is a recital of this quality available in Spalding – don’t miss it! The Marylebone Trio The Marylebone Trio was formed in 2003 at the Royal Academy of Music by three very talented wind soloists. All three musicians have successful careers with leading orchestras, and the Trio has quickly gained a reputation not only for individual skill and ensemble playing but also for lively and informative presentations of a varied mix of music. They have recently been chosen as Selected Artists by the Making Music Scheme, and they have a strong commitment to educational work. Their typically varied programme will range from Bach (both JS and CPE), Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert to the present day. It is some time since we featured a wind ensemble, and this afternoon really should provide something for everyone.
